RABBIT haemorrhagic disease virus (calicivirus) will be released in Lane Cove, Ku-ring-gai Chase and Garigal national parks next week. And more northern Sydney locations are being considered for release of the virus. Although this release is in the northern parts of n.s.w., it will travel.

Please make sure your rabbits are vaccinated against this cruel disease as soon as possible.  also be aware that vaccination for this disease only lasts for 10-11 months, so if you rabbit is due soon, get it vaccinated sooner rather than later.

** ANNOUNCEMENTS **

They’re cute, they’re fluffy and they’re environmentally friendly (no really).  Tame rabbits sometimes receive a lot of flack because of their wild cousins, but it’s really like comparing toy poodles with a wolf - there’s really no comparison.

Rabbits make awesome pets.  You can keep them indoors or outside in a hutch.  Many can be kitty litter trained, and if you use a paper or clay based litter, this can be put straight onto your garden or into your compost bin.  They’ll eat many of your kitchen vegetable and fruit scraps (they adore things like banana and mango skins) and LOVE most of the horrible weeds that like to invade our gardens.  They’re not as needy for attention as dogs, and aren’t as fickle as cats - some can even be clicker and lead trained if you have the inclination.  Reduce your footprint and make a rabbit your next pet.
